Is There Hope For Us?

April 28, 2008

This is probably a bit heavy for a beautiful Monday morning like this, but I am going to share it anyway. I had a fairly lazy Saturday; I sat on my frayed couch and watched “This is England” amongst other things. As I was sitting there, I got curious about the conflict in the Darfur region of Sudan. What was the big deal? Why are people freaking out about all of this? I grabbed my roommate’s macbook and proceed to read about the conflict and watch videos online. Tears welled up in my eyes as I saw bullet scars in toddler’s bodies, villages burned, etc. etc.

It seems like a very hopeless situation, and quite honestly, I have no clue what the resolution is to the conflict. We, as Christians, need to remain aware and show compassion. It is our duty to love. I would recommend reading up on the subject and if you feel led, donating to some relief organizations. Here are some links:

He is a middle school teacher back in Wisconsin and put together a fundraising page for the people involved in the conflict, you can make donations if you’d like, it takes about 2 minutes)
