Unusual Show

February 6, 2009

Okay, Training is over, and I am ready to blog again. Sorry for this slack-week.

I had a remarkable night yesterday. My roommate’s mom, Shirley and her sister do manicures/massages for the patients at Craig Hospital’s rehabilitation program. Al and I went down last night and played guitar for the people while they were getting all “done up”.

I must say, those people are incredible. I met a guy named Mike. He brought down his songbook and we sang some Dylan, Simon & Garfunkel, etc. etc. Mike is a singer, but his diaphragm got crushed in an accident, so he had a bunch of trouble singing. Needless to say, that didn’t stop him from belting out some tunes with us! At the end of the night, he gave Al some tips on his math homework and we talked about his experiences in Russia.

Our lil’ setlist (as I remember):

OCMS – Wagon Wheel

John Cougar Melancamp – Jack and Diane

Johnny Cash – Folsom City Blues

Bruce Springsteen – Born to Run

OCMS – We’re All in This Thing Together

Bob Dylan – Subterranean Homesick Blues

Tom Petty – Free Fallin’

Ryan Adams – Sweet Caroline

S&G – The Boxer

Bob Dylan – Tambourine Man

Sister Hazel – All For You

Garth Brooks – Friends in Low Places

Elvis – Blue Suede Shoes

Bob Dylan – Blowin’ in the Wind

  1. Awesome night, though Sister Hazel is a weird choice…

Also, I’ve been looking for a pair of blue suede shoes forever. Elvis didn’t want people to step on them because a good pair are impossible to find!

  2. haha, sister hazel was requested and we shamefully were able to figure it out, hahah.

  3. hey, what’s wrong with sister hazel? 🙂

  4. friends in low places was the funnest one to play, haha
